The
German Society of Pennsylvania continues to offer new and different
programs as
well as various cultural experiences with the help of dedicated and
generous
members and volunteers. With rising energy and other operational costs
our
financial challenges continue to grow.
Therefore, we encourage you to become a German Society Donor.
There
are many ways to give your time, talents, and treasures. We
are a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and therefore your monetary donations
and
gifts in-kind are tax-deductible.
Please consider one of the methods below.
Financially
We also
offer monthly giving plans.
Designated Uses - You can make a
special gift at
any time or designate your annual fund gift to the library projects,
scholarships, the language program or specific projects, such as
construction
of new multi-media room, renovation of our first floor kitchen, a new
phone
system, creation of a new website and others.
Endowment
Fund
– We have recently established an
endowment fund with the Philadelphia Foundation. The
purpose of this fund is to provide
ongoing funding for special projects, to build a cushion for inevitable
year-to-year
fluctuations in income and unexpected needs for major capital items. There
are many options
to participate in. A well funded
endowment will help insure the future of the Society.
The following is but partial list of
possibilities, you may:
Donate cash and securities;
Contribute from IRA or other
retirement accounts which also have a significant tax saving
consequence;
Purchase charitable gift
annuities, which provide an income stream to the donor and offer an
immediate
tax deduction;
Make commitments to bequests
through estate plans;
Donate life insurance proceeds –
either list the Society as the beneficiary of an existing policy or
purchase a
new policy.
The Philadelphia
Foundation offers additional options, which might be of interest to
you, please contact the office for more
information.
German Society Memorial
Gift Funds
The
program is designed to complement our endowment fund. Donations
are typically made to honor or
memorialize persons. These gifts are
listed in the Linden Society, which recognizes contributions to the
endowment
fund.
Please
follow the links or information on the various vehicles
for giving and Q&As.
If additional
information is needed, please call the Society.
More Ways to Give
GoodSearch and GoodShop
What if the German
Society earned a penny every
time you searched the Internet? Or how
about if a percentage of every purchase you made online went to support
our
mission? Well, now you can!
GoodSearch.com is
a Yahoo-powered search engine
that donates half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to
the
charities its users designate. Use it
just as you would any search engine, get quality search results from
Yahoo, and
watch the donations add up!
GoodShop.com is a
new online shopping mall which
donates up to 37 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause! Hundreds of great stores, including Amazon,
Target, Gap, Best Buy, ebay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed
up with
GoodShop and every time you place an order, you’ll be supporting
your favorite
cause. Just go to www.goodsearch.com/?charityid=819760
before you do any online shopping.
Also be sure to spread the word!
Gifts In Kind
The
German Society is requesting donations of common house hold items
– paper
products for the bathrooms and kitchen, plastic bags, cleaning
products, light
bulbs and many more. Please call the
office to see what particular items are currently needed.
If
you have any of these items, we will be more than happy to issue you a
donation
receipt for the fair market value of each item. If you would like to
purchase
and donate these items, please save your receipts, and we will issue
you a
statement covering the full amount for tax purposes.
Volunteering
If
you have a few free hours per week or month, we welcome those with a
passion
for cleaning, painting and light maintenance projects, as well as
ushering,
ticket selling, bartending, and more. Please see our Volunteer
page for further details.
Whenever
you have any questions about donating, money, treasures, or time, we
would love
to speak with you.
